What We Do

Promoting One Health Awareness in The Gambia

“Striving for One Health in action in The Gambia” extends beyond research. We are committed to developing a comprehensive understanding of One Health awareness amongst stakeholders across government, academia and civil society in The Gambia.

OUR MISSION

I

Investigate and Enhance One Health Awareness: Our primary goal is to explore current One Health awareness, interpretation and prioritisation amongst key stakeholders in The Gambia, with an initial focus on policymakers.

I

Bridging Research-Policy Gaps: Identifying gaps in existing One Health frameworks and proposing sustainable and actionable solutions

I

Promoting Collaborative Efforts: Encouraging cross-sectoral and cross-societal collaborations to achieve a unified approach to optimise health of humans, animals and ecosystems.

METHODS

Qualitative and Participatory Research

Engaging participants through:

  • Semi-structured interviews with One Health stakeholders across government, national and international health agencies, and academia.
  • FGDs with farmer networks, veterinary paraprofessionals, community healthcare workers, and student groups.

Thematic Analysis
